The "Force of Wills" Magic the Gathering Altered Card Features Ron Spencer's Yawgmoth's Will

 

It was only a matter of time, right? Since I've been messing with everyone elses cards, why not adulterate my brothers all-powerful Yawgmoth's Will!  I call this one "Force of Wills". Yawgmoth's pretty nasty, but the shaman is tough and scrappy... sort of Wolverine style. Any guesses who's gonna win?

This alteration is painted with acrylic. In honor of Ron's technique, I tried to use a little ball-point-pen, but I couldn't get the ball in the pen to roll around on top of my paint. So, how about I just stick with what 'I' know how to do. You think?

Altered Magic the Gathering "Force of Will" Featuring Mark Tedin's "Necropotence"

Mark Tedin does some of the coolest design work in Magic. He's very often one of the behind-the-scenes people that helps conceptualize the look and feel of Magic. I've studied his design ideas for many years as he is frequently a contributor to the style guides that are given to all of the artists that illustrate Magic cards. So here's one more homage to Mark, featuring his wicked cool Necropotence dude. It's up on ebay for the next three days.

Altered "Force of Will" Featuring Mark Tedin's "Sol Ring"

 
 

I've done a few different versions of a burned "Force of Will" card. Adding Mark Tedin's "Sol Ring", to this card art was a fun combo for me. It seems like something the shaman could do, right? Has anyone actually burned their Magic cards before? It seems wrong, but anything for art right? I needed to see first hand, how the paper on a Magic card would react to fire. Oh, in case your wondering... no, I didn't burn a Force of Will. That'd REALLY be wrong!  : ) O.k. so this card is up on Ebay for only three days, so if you enjoy collecting these hurry on over.

By the way, speaking of Mark, he has a Facebook fan page "Mark Tedin Illustration". Go sign up! He puts some great info up, on what he's currently working on. Also, if you ever meet him, tell him "Terese  said I should have you do an Arnold Schwarzenegger impression". He's hysterical!
