Spectrum Exhibition II The Museum of American Illustration September 2009

In 2005, Spectrum: The Best in Contemporary Fantastic Art, sponsored their first exhibition of works (selected from volumes 1-11) at the Museum of American Illustration at the Society of Illustrators in New York City. Apparently the show drew record-breaking crowds. I was honored to be selected as one of the artists included in that show.

Two years later Spectrum is pleased to announce a second exhibition of original work selected from the last four editions (#s 12-15) which will be on display again at the Museum of American Illustration in New York City. There will be approximately 150 pieces hanging side by side, and I'm excited to say, one of my illustrations has been selected to be included in this second, amazing, exhibition of art.

The piece that was chosen this year was from volume 15, depicting a more sinister looking Luke Skywalker. The art was commissioned for the package illustration for the Star Wars Miniatures line, Legacy of the Force. The Skywalker Ranch was kind enough to release this piece from their collection for the exhibition.

I'm hoping to herd my ducks into a row this year, and be able to attend the opening reception. I was told I really missed out last time. Would you believe, out of all the places I've been on the planet, I've yet to set foot in New York City? It may be time.

Terese Nielsen Will be signing at the 2009 Magic the Gathering World Championships in Rome

The 2009 Magic: The Gathering World Championships is the culmination of the Magic year. Players from more than 50 countries will come together in Rome, Italy for the pinnacle of international Magic competition. National Champions, Pro Tour winners, the highest-ranked DCI players, and more will square off to earn the coveted title of "World Champion." It'll be exciting! I've yet to experience Italy, so I'm thrilled about the opportunity to do a signing in Rome! Many of my biggest fans, and collectors of altered cards are from Italy, so I hope to meet many of you and sign thousands of cards during the event. You can check here for a somewhat up-to-date list of cards that I've illustrated through the years.

I haven't received my signing schedule yet, however, for those of you wondering which day I'll be there, I'll be signing all four days! I just don't know the hours yet.

Terese Nielsen Will Be at Comic Con San Diego - Will You?

It's that time again!  Friday's are usually related to Angel Quest, but those are going to be every other Friday from now on . . . at least until Comic Con 2008 is over!  Mark your calendars and be there if you can: July 24-27, with preview night on the 23rd from 6-9pm.

Comic Con is the one trade show I've been going to ever since before I had my first job with Marvel.  Still in school, Cliff (my ex) and I would go down to shop our portfolios around and hope we could get some powerful, beneficent art director to give us a shot . . . which is what happened.

Most years I can be found in Artist Alley, but this year I'm sharing booth space with Mr. Dave Seeley.  Be sure to come visit us at booth 4600, but please don't come chasing me late at night when I'm out being wild and crazy, forgetting that I have teenagers at home.

Rebecca Guay failed to heed this warning one year . . . I'm sure she'll stay safely in her hotel room from now on, as I had her under the table after a brutal arm wrestling match.

Oh, and by the way, I've been preparing to defeat Donato in leg wrestling . . . . . he thinks he's "all that."

World of Warcraft fans Line Up for Signatures

So, here we are... while I sit signing World of Warcraft books (Upper Deck), my alter ego sits uploading a few photos real time into this blog thing, mostly just because it's fun to do.

This Barnes & Noble is really posh, down here in a totally gorgeous development in Huntington Beach, right at Beach Blvd. and Edinger.

One of the main draws to coming to this event is to see friends I rarely get a chance to catch up with.  Of the 7 artists intended to be here, 6 came (I guess Justin Sweet got sick, which is too bad because I was looking forward to finally meeting him in person).  I personally know and enjoy hanging out with Tom, Randy and Ben (now overseeing WOW CCG product for Upper Deck).  I'm glad to get to know Sam and Glenn a little today.  Also, Jeremy Cranford (Upper Deck Art Director) and his wife joined us for dinner, as well as a couple of other great people.

So, go look at the photo album of dinner at Buca di Beppo's after the event.  We had so much fun hanging out with everyone.  Five hours flew by.  Most of us will see each other again at Comic Con in San Diego.
